The Law Office of Robert S. Gardner also provides advice to and represents clients in campaign and election law matters. We have extensive experience working with elected officials and political candidates, as well as businesses, associations and nonprofits that wish to address ballot initiatives and ballot proposals. In the past, we have advised and represented clients in matters relating to campaign finance, limitations on campaign contributions, as well as Colorado’s Amendment 27 and Fair Campaign Practices Act. Our experience extends to representing both candidates and political parties in election contests and redistricting and voting rights issues. In addition to traditional legal counsel, we also provide our clients with campaign management and consulting services, political communication and lobbying advice, and assistance with grassroots political campaigns. Our clients include members of the Colorado General Assembly, district attorneys, members of state boards and commissions, as well as County Commissioners, municipal council members, and school board members.

Firm founder Robert S. Gardner has extensive experience in election law, ballot access, and voting rights matters. He frequently counsels both elected officials and candidates on the impact of a number of state laws, including the Federal Election Campaign Act, the Ethics in Government Act, the Lobbying Disclosure Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the Internal Revenue Code, as well as other relevant federal and state statutes.

Mr. Gardner is also experienced in political campaign management and coordination, both for candidate and issue campaigns. He has directed two countywide voter outreach efforts with record turnout and election sweeps on both occasions. He is skilled in direct mail message formulation, demographic targeting, and the design and implementation of speaker outreach programs to key community groups such as civic clubs, business leaders, and neighborhood associations.
